A kiss is one of the most
anticipated and most important act in starting an intimate relationship. But,
it's also the hardest thing to do aside from doing a cold approach. Given that
enough attraction and good vibe was built, and the couple is in a comfortable
location, there would be no reason for a couple not to kiss.
Sometimes, a man usually miscalibrate the situation and go for the kiss in a wrong timing, where the attraction and comfort is not yet built well. And sometimes, a guy is too passive, that he misses the windows of escalation for a kiss, which turns the girl off, and because of that, the girl might put him into the friend-zone
It's important for guys to know when to initiate a kiss, because it might make or break the chemistry between the two of them. When a girl is ready for a kiss, she will most likely give signal that you should look for. Some of the signs are the following:

"triangular gazing" before initiating the kiss. Triangular gazing is
done by repeatedly looking at a woman's left eye, then the right eye, then her
lips in a triangular manner. Doing that will make her anticipate the kiss which
means you can calibrate the situation. If she didn't break eye contact, go
directly for the kiss.

You can ask the classic line "do you want to kiss me?" if she says "no", then say "I didn't say you could", if she says "maybe", then say "let's find out" then kiss her, if she says "yes", then kiss her right away.
